Joel Harris - Founder - A Howard University Graduate with Forty years of Public Interest Broadcasting experience. Always seeking new technologies and creative challenges, he is a founding partner in the Color of STEM Group. The Group’s mission is to encourage and inspire the next generation of scientist and engineers. STEM Comes In All Colors.
Curt Simmons - VP Programming - Brings over Forty years of experience in television production event management and is also a co founder of the Color of STEM Group. After attending Carnegie Mellon University, Curt has gone on to pursue a successful career as a television producer and director and eventually moved into network management. He spent (8) eight years with Black Entertainment Television (BET) as Director of the Sports Department. As the Director of Sports where he received several awards: ACE Award Nomination (NBA Series Program), CEBA Awards and NAACP Image Awards. He was also a critical part of the team that negotiated co-ventures with the National Basketball Association, National Football League and Major League Baseball. The negotiations resulted in a number of specials and show series including Super Bowl Specials, World Series and NBA All-Star Specials.
Susan Smallwood - Executive Marketing Consultant - Susan Smallwood and the Grandiosity Events team are excited to come on board as The Color of STEM’s Executive Marketing Consultants. Grandiosity Events is one of the premier fund-raising firms in the Washington DC area where success lies with strong personal relationships across the beltway and nationally. Grandiosity Events were created as a platform to bring high visibility and funding to organizations large and small. Some of the foundations that were beneficiaries: Kennedy Krieger Institute for Children, The Wounded Warrior Project and the Darryl Strawberry Autism foundation for Children … Just to name a few.
Larry Law – Senior Series Editor Larry Law, vice president of Larry, Ink ltd., has been an audiovisual professional for 20 plus years. Law’s experience includes commercial, broadcast, corporate, and government television production. On the creative side, Law shoots and edits documentaries, advertising commercials, public service announcements, educational, and training productions; including award-winning projects for clients such as the National Aeronautics and Space Administration (NASA), the Washington Metropolitan Area Transit Authority (METRO), U.S. Drug Enforcement Administration, NCAA, and the Federal Highway Administration. Law has been honored with numerous awards by his peers for his innovative audiovisual work; including two Broadcast Design Association (BDA) awards, four Telly awards, two National Association of Minorities in Cable (NAMIC) awards, as well as Gold and Silver Omni awards.
Michael Taylor Producer, Director of Photography - A Graduate of Southern Illinois University Carbondale, Michael has been producing videos for over 15 years. After graduating, he made his way to Washington, DC to work as a broadcast professional. Working as a freelance videography, editor, and broadcast technician for XM Satellite Radio, BET Networks and C-SPAN. He also served as the Technical Director for Marvin Sapp “I Win” DVD, and was Cinematographer on numerous music videos. Michael is a Telly award winning videographer with great love for producing documentary films.
Quinton Chandler Law – Production Technician and Editor – Quinton attended Huston Tillotson University and Prince Georges Community College. Quinton has been a vital part of our creative strategic design for the Color of STEM project. Quinton has worked with seven-time Grammy Award Winner Rapper Songwriter Kendrick Lamar and Wale who has also received several music award nominations including: Grammy Award Nomination for Best Rap Song and BET Hip Hop Music Award Nomination for Best New Artist.
